Why Vetrixo
Written prescriptions are an occasional job for many vets, with a lot of detail to get right. When one comes back with questions, it costs the practice, the pharmacy and the client time.
Your name, RCVS number and practice details are already there. Search the medicine catalogue to select a product, then review and complete the available details. Every prescription prints in the same clear, typed layout.
Controlled drug instalments, repeat limits, 28-day validity, total quantities in words and pack or pipette quantities are set out for you. Gaps in dosing directions are flagged before you issue.
Only you can issue, using your personal passkey. Pharmacies check the paper against your record, so a changed medicine or quantity stands out. Cancel or replace a prescription and they see that too.
How it works
The prescription is printed and signed by hand. The record behind it stays online.
Fill in the guided form and review it.
Confirm with your passkey. The record is created and locked.
Print, sign in ink and hand it to the client.
The client takes or sends it to the pharmacy they choose.
Scan the QR code and check the prescription against the record.
Dispense as normal, then record the supply in Vetrixo.
Signed in ink today. Electronic signing is in development. The passkey confirms the issue in Vetrixo; the signature on the prescription is the vet's own ink signature.
For pharmacies
Clearer prescriptions from the start, and a record to check every one against. Free, and no account needed.
Recording a supply takes the quantity and your premises details, separately from your PMR. An optional pharmacy account remembers your premises details.

For pet owners
Take or send your Vetrixo prescription to the pharmacy you choose. You do not need an account, and the clear, typed details are easy for the pharmacy to check.
Security
Only its vet can create that record, and the printed copy is checked against it, so changes to the paper stand out.
Email, RCVS registration, identity and practice are checked before anyone can prescribe.
Each prescription is issued with the vet's personal passkey.
Prescription content cannot be edited after issue; status and supply activity can still be added. A correction is issued as a replacement.
Issue, cancellation and every recorded supply are logged against the prescription.
Vetrixo helps get the details right. Clinical decisions, and the legal requirements for prescribing and supply, remain with the vet and the pharmacy.
Under the CMA's new rules, first opinion practices must offer owners a written prescription when they prescribe, from June 2027 for businesses with 15 or more first opinion practices, and September 2027 for smaller businesses. Vetrixo makes them simple to write and easy to verify, and it is currently free to use.
Vetrixo is independent and not endorsed by the CMA.
